The emergency protection button AZ-5 of the reactor, identical to the button after pressing of which the Chornobyl catastrophe occurred.
When pressed, sounds are reproduced:
- the sound of the reactor explosion
- the siren of a Soviet fire truck
- a telephone conversation between the operator of the Central Fire Communication Center (CFC) with the management and dispatcher of the paramilitary fire department for the protection of the Chornobyl NPP, fire departments of Ivankiv and Poliske in the first minutes after the accident
- the Soviet dosimeter DP-5 used during the accident
- a message about the evacuation of the town of Prypiat on April 27, 1986
The educational product and its numbered passport were developed with the involvement of specialists from the National Museum “Chornobyl”, personally the operator of the 4th unit Oleksiy Breus, the commander of radiation intelligence Sergii Mirnyi and a lecturer at the Chornobyl University Kateryna Aslamova.

Additional information:
After the accident in 1986, the RBMK-1000 reactor systems were modified and the AZ-5 buttons were replaced with toggle switches. They were also additionally covered with protective covers. During the accident, the reactor emergency protection buttons were exactly the same model as those presented in this product. You can verify this by visiting the National Museum “ Chornobyl” - the information is presented on the second floor at the very beginning of the museum's exposition.
